General Aviation

Gadsden's Northeast Alabama Regional Airport is an uncontrolled field. It has a main runway of 6,802 x 150 feet (2,073 x 46 meters), a secondary runway of 4,806 x 100 feet (1,465 x 30 meters), and a Category 1 Instrument Landing System.  On average, there are 300 takeoffs and landings per week, counting touch-and-gos.  It is general aviation traffic, including corporate jets, about 75% of which is transient.  For communications, navaids, runway specifications and more details, click here.

 

The airport is served by Northeast Alabama Regional Aviation, an FBO providing Chevron 100 LL Avgas and Jet A fuel, maintenance and repairs, oxygen service, aircraft parking (ramp or tiedown), hangar rentals, aircraft rentals and charters, flight training, crew and rental cars, and a passenger terminal and lounge.


Commercial Service

There is no demand for local commercial air service due to the proximity of the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, less than an hour’s drive from Gadsden.  It accommodates fully loaded and fully fueled 747 aircraft.  Offering nearly 120 departures and arrivals daily to and from 42 cities throughout the nation, it ranks in the country's top 75 airports in terms of passengers served annually.

The Birmingham airport is a Port of Entry for U.S. Customs and has a Foreign Trade Zone.  In-bond cargo storage, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and ground handling companies are on site.
