Gadsden State Community College

Gadsden State is a two-year postsecondary educational institution with more than 6,000 students. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate Degrees in Science, Arts and Applied Science. Most academic division graduates transfer to Jacksonville State University and to Auburn University. Jacksonville State University

Jacksonville State University’s main campus is 20 miles southeast of downtown Gadsden. JSU has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Bachelors, Masters, Educational Specialist and Doctor of Science degrees.  Its four colleges offer more than 80 undergraduate majors leading to a Bachelor’s degree and more than 30 Master’s degree programs.

The Department of Technology and Engineering at JSU offers a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems Technology, as well as Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Manufacturing Engineering, Applied Electronics Engineering, Industrial Leadership and Occupational Safety and Health Management.  All technology degree programs are accredited by The National Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering.

JSU's Gadsden Center is on the GSCC campus, providing advanced studies for those acquiring a Bachelor’s, Masters or Doctorate degree. Instruction is offered in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management and Marketing. An MBA program also is offered.

Huntingdon College's Gadsden Center

The Gadsden Center of Huntingdon College offers a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Management, in addition to a BS in Business Management major.

University Of Alabama’s Gadsden Center

The Gadsden Center of the University of Alabama offers residents the opportunity to earn graduate-level credits in 32 fields without traveling to the university’s main campus. In addition, a Master’s degree in Engineering program is being planned, delivered by asynchronous distance learning means as well as on-site professors.

University Of Alabama At Birmingham

One of the top 200 universities internationally according to Academic Ranking of World Universities, UAB is a one-hour drive from Gadsden.  The School of Engineering offers BS and MS degrees in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, plus BS, MS and PhD degrees in Materials Science.  Its laboratories conduct research in high-performance computer modeling and simulation, composite materials applications and development, and metals processing.
